A few days ago, I bid a temporary farewell to my second home. Having taken a piece of my heart that will never be replaced by anything else, this was a bittersweet goodbye.
I can still remember the first day I moved into residence. I remember getting lost all the time during the first week of classes. I remember all the late nights (studying or not). I remember all the friends I’ve made and lost. University gives you some of the best years of your life. I can’t believe how much I have grown in the last 5 years, how much I’ve learned about myself yet how much more I know that I need to learn now.
While one of my fears is slowly forgetting these memories, one of my greatest friends reminded me that this is a way of truly knowing which memories are worth remembering and which ones of those friends are your true friends. Very true.
Western, you have given me more than I bargained for with my way-too-high tuition. But I am forever grateful. Once a mustang, always a mustang.
